Goldwork has long been prized for its dramatic finish and the way that light reflects from it. Historically used by the church for their ecclesiastic vestments and ceremonial robes as well as royalty throughout the ages, Goldwork was also adopted by the military to adorn dress uniforms and for banners, crests and badges.

Level: Intermediate
This class is pitched at an Intermediate level student who has knowledge of Goldwork but would like to improve.
Please note that to achieve a smooth transition into this class some pre-work are required. The pre-work include the button hole stitch over the silver wire on the 3D wings, the gold very fine pearl purl and the gold smooth passing. The kit can be sent to you with the required instructions for the pre-work.
The first part of the day will be to review the pre-work and stitch the gold seed beads with the chainstitch and the Swarovski crystals. Students will learn how to stitch the different padding, felt and bump. The pearl purl will also be stitch at this stage on the body of the dragonfly.
The second part of the day will involve making the antenna with gold smooth purl and silver wire. The essing will be introduce to complete the body. Students will also learn how to do the loops with the silver and gold smooth purl.
Finally, Students will learn how to make the brooch.
The aim of the class is to learn the different padding, to follow a design with the passing and how to create a smooth essing.
This class includes a kit with white organza, silver wire, gold metallic madeira thread, gold smooth and rough purls, silver smooth purl, gold passing, very fine pearl purl, felt, bump, brooch attach, Swarovski crystals, black seed beads, gold lined seed beads, bees wax, needles and detailed instructions.
