A Message From Our Chairman
We had a very busy but extremely rewarding June with the NFWI Annual General Meeting in Bournemouth. Those representing Cheshire at the AGM had a very enjoyable time thanks to the excellent organisation of Trustee Mary Hignett and Federation Secretary Hazel Fogg. Apart from the time spent at the meeting when members learn so much about the organisation, have the opportunity to take part voting on the selection of resolutions and listen to various speakers, it is always a pleasure to travel on the Federation coach with members and then share social time at the hotel.
The AGM was followed by the superb Royal Cheshire Agricultural Show. As always, the Marquee was an amazing interpretation of the theme ‘The Silver Screen’, the Oscars looked fantastic, all thanks to Mary Ann Dryer, Norma Dent and their team. The exhibits were so impressive and greatly admired by all those who viewed them. My sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the Show in any way, it was a resounding success because of the hard work and dedication of members, it was a team effort, you must all feel extremely proud of yourselves. Again, a huge thank you from me and the Board of Trustees. A full report will appear in the next edition of Cheshire News.
Having been invited to many WIs over the last couple of months, I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many members and have been made very welcome. I look forward to meeting many more members over the coming months. Thank you to all the WIs who have invited me to their meetings and events, every invitation is appreciated, my apologies if I am not always able to accept due to a prior engagement.
The Federation has several sub-committees, Archives, Art & Craft, Home & Gardens, Public Affairs, Sport & Leisure and Website, if you feel you could contribute to one of these committees do not hesitate to contact the Federation Office so you can be invited as an observer at a meeting. Meetings are held quarterly. There is also the Cheshire News team who publish our popular newsletter; if you feel your expertise is this area then do not hesitate to volunteer. Look forward to hearing from you.
